I helped raise a six-year-old boy whose health care could be affected by Medicaid cuts. I called members of Congress because I wanted his needs, and the needs of families like ours, to be heard. That experience stayed with me.

But I also saw a bigger problem.

People are working long hours, caring for their families, paying bills, and trying to make it to the end of the month. Some are making hard choices between things like medicine and groceries. Veterans who served our country can still struggle to get the services or stable housing they need.

These are real problems. But finding the right person in government can take time many people do not have.

People may not know who represents them. They may not know which office handles their issue, how to contact that office, or what to say.
