I remember calling elected officials during a major government negotiation and asking them to vote against cuts to Medicaid.
I was not doing it for myself. I was doing it for a six-year-old boy I helped raise, a little superhero who loved Sonic, Tails, and McDonald's chicken nuggets. He depended on Medicaid, and his health coverage was at risk.
People were making decisions about his future without knowing his name, his story, or what losing that support would mean for him.
But I knew.
Watching the system fail an innocent child changed me.
As a Black man and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have spent much of my life navigating systems that were not designed with people like me in mind.
That experience taught me that getting a seat at the table is not enough. People also need useful tools, trusted information, and support to change the conversation.

So I did. I built Project Midlands to help make sure people are not ignored simply because they do not have the most money, power, or connections.
